Gerry Leis
Duties include operations supervision, technical sales, field human resource monitoring, monitor operational costs, and monitoring and implementing Advantage’s safety program.
Gerry’s professional experience includes 11+ years in the drilling fluid Industry. After working 9 years as a drilling fluid technician in the foothills area of Edson and Grande Prairie, Gerry was promoted to Operations Manager for Advantage Mud.
Duties as Operations Manager
- Organize and handle the field reporting system with the drilling fluid technicians and the office staff
- Make drilling fluid technician staff selection
- Monitor field operating expenses
- Monitor training and certification for the field staff and consultants
- Ensure that the paperwork from the field is timely and accurate
- Monitor and implement the safety program with all field and consulting staff
- Responsible for the allocation of mud testing equipment and computers
- Responsible for all scheduling of the field staff
- Monitor and maintain phone and vehicle list
- Perform field employee evaluations
Relative Experience and Accomplishments
- Gerry worked the drilling rigs for Tri-City and Simmons Drilling for 11 years as a roughneck, motor hand, derrickman, and driller. He then started in the drilling fluid industry in 1994. After completing a comprehensive course in drilling fluid technology, Gerry worked in the Brooks area as well as most of Southern Alberta.
- Gerry was transferred to Edson in 1996. The majority of wells serviced have been in the foothills areas, and on the eastern edge of the Rocky Mountains. He has worked a variety of situations on shallow and deeper wells, including loss of circulation, moderate to severe gas kicks, H2S, stuck pipe, faults and fractures, and formation instability.
- Gerry has mostly worked on directional and horizontal wells in the foothills area for the past 4 years. He has run all the inhibitive water base and oil base mud systems, and has gained an excellent knowledge and understanding of the foothills area, and its conditions and requirements.
